Al-Fatihah

Just a couple of hours ago I received a phone call from a friend of mine. I was shocked and initially in disbelief when I was told that a friend during our university years has passed away because of cardiac arrest.

 Innalillah wa inna ilaihi rajiun…

Flashes of old memories came forward from the depths of my mind and I can see vividly his face, his laughter… his intellect. I still remember the time when we are both in the ‘smoking room’ after the wee hours during our honors programme chatting about what our plans are after graduating.

“Kau lepas grad kau nak buat apa Roy? He asked.

“Aku rasa aku nak practice… nak ada firm sendiri one day, kau plak?”

“Aku nak join gomen… nak masuk AG”

After graduation, all take their own paths, some may say that the path taken is predetermined and some say that path taken is of our own choice. Whatever that may be, for my friend who had passed away he has taken the path that he wants or wanted. For that I am glad for him.

Good bye my old friend, Ahmad Zulkamal Shahrir… a good man, a good friend and a brilliant chap.

 Al-Fatihah.

A monarchy conducted with infinite wisdom and infinite benevolence is the most perfect of all possible governments – Ezra Stiles

In the midst of political turmoil in Perak, a lot of rude and harsh remarks are hurled against the Sultan of Perak. His highness’s decision in appointing the new BN-led state government is openly criticized as being unconstitutional, against the rule of law and natural justice albeit the fact that his highness the Sultan of Perak was once the chief justice of this country.

Ironically, these entire ruckuses are made by those same people who once hail support of the sultans, who wore yellow scarves and headbands, shouting ‘daulat tuanku’ on the streets to portray themselves as true royalists. Now it seems that the table has turned. Those once royalist are now the ones who show ‘the finger’ to the monarchy. Too sudden a change of respect and allegiance, I suppose.

Clearly all the support once was given by these people are done insincerely with obvious ulterior motives.

The other half of the rakyat have voiced against these ‘derhaka’ behavior. But it is sad to see that other sultans, with the exception of the Sultan of Selangor, have not said anything over this issue. As usual the comment made by the Sultan of Selangor is straight to the point and bold as it condemns all the idiotic and immature acts done over the Perak issue.

Daulat Tuanku.

UPDATE:

It seems that the issue in Perak is far (emphasis added) from over. The ‘suspension’ made by the state assembly speaker has cause the issue to further deteriorate.

But let say that the suspension is valid and in accordance with the house rules… If the old PR government still considers itself as the legitimate government, wouldn’t the suspension effective on them instead? So, who are suspended? The bigger question is who will administer the state of Perak during the suspension period?
